An Evening at the Seashore (Essay Sample)

An Evening at the Seashore

The sun was just shining some dark red light on the blue clear skies and the cold breeze that blew towards the shore made everyone feel like that was the right place to be. There were people of all ages and this made the shore a very lively place to be. The eyes of little children were shining in happiness as they ran all over the shore and played with the small waves that were approaching the shore. The calmness of the shore could have left someone wishing that they could just stay there forever. Little did we know that what seemed to be a moment of life was about to be distracted by what people least expected.

My friends and I continued playing in the warm water but the moment one left for the sand on the dry land, then they could realize that the breeze was no longer warm as expected but their bodies froze in chills.  This made us stay in the water for longer than we expected. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the swimming until we heard whistles that everybody was supposed to leave the water. Some people were already swimming deep in the shore and therefore, it took a while before the waters in the shore were clear of people. Most of the people left straight for home as some murmured the rumor that there was an oncoming Tsunami.

My friends and I did not panic a lot because we knew that for a Tsunami to occur, then there were high chances that a warning had been given and people could not be left to come to the shore. A lot of questions kept running through my mind as to what the problem could have been as we changed to dry clothes. When everyone was out of the water, then we went near the watch tower which was surrounded by a couple of people. On maneuvering our way closer to the center, we noticed two children lying on the sand and form the look of the first aid that they were getting, then it was clear that they were drowning.

The calm seashore was now filled with panic as everybody around tried to find out the reason as to why people were told to leave the water. One of the life guards told us that an individual in the water had raised the alarm of an oncoming shark. However, it turned out that it was not a shark but two dead bodies which were brutally injured. Given the happiness that we had on reaching the beach, then such news was a shock to everyone that was there. Adding to that, one of the children who were being given first aid had taken a lot of water and lost their life. The mother was crying in deep pain and I could do was put herself in her situation. Losing such a young soul is not anything pleasant to happen to anyone. The police came over to carry the dead bodies while the other child was rushed to the hospital.

The beach was already getting dark but then the beautiful site of the moon brought life again. Its reflection on the clear waters was a nice site since the reflection of the bright light followed a straight line. It was a full moon. Since it was a full moon, everyone left on the shore could not hide the amazement look they had on their faces. It was the beauty of nature and the waves were growing larger and louder as compared to the earlier situation. The evening had mixed feelings and my friends and I left for home.
