The Maclaren Buggy, invented by Owen Maclaren and later manufactured in Long Buckby.
The example of the Maclaren Baby Buggy at the Long Buckby Museum is most likely the only one left of the original few made by Owen Maclaren at his home in Barby in 1965. A retired aeronautical engineer and test pilot, who worked on the Spitfire, Owen wanted to use his expertise to create a lightweight buggy to save his daughter struggling with her cumbersome pram. It was not long after this in 1967 that the item became hugely popular and Owen Maclaren set up a factory in Long Buckby to manufacture what he called the Maclaren B-01. Since then it has been used by millions of people including royals and celebrities.
